Breakdown of the process for salvation

Getting Baptized.

Baptism is a Christian sacrament that symbolizes rebirth, spiritual cleansing, and entry into the Christian faith. It is usually performed by pouring or sprinkling water on the head of the person being baptized, or by fully or partially immersing them in water.

  • Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to follow him
  • It signifies the forgiveness of sins and the start of a new life
  • It is a way to be welcomed into the Christian community

A guide for Adults to get Baptized.

Confessing your Sins.

The seven deadly sins (also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins) function as a grouping classification of major vices within the teachings of Christianity. The seven deadly sins in Christianity are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth.

Self-examination: is a time to examine one's life, repent of sins, and approach God with a repentant heart.

Once you have done the examination repent for your sins through confession.

Faith

Receiving Holy Communion daily/weekly.

Holy Communion is a Christian ritual that involves eating bread and drinking wine to remember Jesus' sacrifice. It's also known as the Lord's Supper or the Eucharist.

What it's about

  • Commemoration: Holy Communion is a way to remember Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
  • Spiritual nourishment: Communion is a way to receive grace and strength from God.
  • Unity: Communion is a way to celebrate the shared faith and fellowship between believers.

 How it's performed

  • During Mass, a priest consecrates the bread and wine.
  • Believers receive the bread and wine as the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Faith

Doing Our Father's Will

Faith

Faith in Our Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

In the Bible, faith is the belief and trust in God, even when there is no physical proof. It is also the commitment to put one's life in God's hands.  The Catholic Church defines faith as a personal and communal relationship with God, and a free act of belief in the truths revealed by God. It is a virtue that allows people to know and love God, and to respond to God's revelation.

  • A firm belief and complete confidence even when there is no proof
  • In Christianity, faith is the belief in Jesus Christ and the God who sent him
  • In the Bible, faith is considered a means of salvation
  • In the Old Testament, faith was expressed by believers through the covenantal bond

Father Mike's guide to mastering your faith.

Doing Our Father's Will

Doing Our Father's Will

Doing Our Father's Will

Following God's revealed will for how to live involves making deliberate choices every day.

  • Abstain from sexual immorality
  • Give thanks in everything
  • Do good even when you might suffer for it
  • Study and ponder the words of God and our prophets
  • Practice constantly what we have learned

In the Christian context, "the will of the Father" refers to the plan and desires of God the Father, essentially meaning what God wants to happen, which is primarily understood as believing in Jesus Christ and living a life according to his teachings as outlined in the Bible; the key concept being that following Jesus is the primary way to fulfill God's will.

Discipleship

Share the Good News and bring others to Christ.

  • Discipleship involves learning from Jesus, praying with him, studying the Bible with him, and fellowshipping with him
  • Discipleship involves walking alongside other disciples and encouraging each other to obey Jesus' commands
  • Discipleship involves learning to live in the power of the Spirit

Fr. Mike gives four basics for being a disciple of Christ. If you're looking for a challenge, try what Fr. Mike suggests here. They're simple tips, but they're not that easy.

CHRISTIAN DENOMINATIONS

Choose a denomination that fits you best. Each denotation links to the main site where you can find a local parish near you.

Catholicism

Beliefs

Catholics believe in God as a trinity, and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the redeemer of humanity. They also believe that the Catholic Church is the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ.

Structure

The Catholic Church is led by the pope, who is the bishop of Rome. The Holy See, which is the church's central government, is located in Vatican City, an independent nation-state within Rome.

Initiation

A person is considered fully initiated into the Catholic Church after receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

Do All Good People go to Heaven?

Father Mike Schmitz from  Ascension Presents speaks on "Good people go to heaven when they die, right?"   Well, according to the Gospels, not exactly. Fr. Schmitz points to at least four things Christ says we need for salvation:  1.  Baptism (John 3) 2. The Eucharist (John 6) 3. Faith (Romans 10:9) 4. Doing the Father’s will (Matthew 25:31-46)

Protestants

Protestants believe in the core doctrines:

  • Justification by faith alone: Salvation is achieved through God's grace, or unearned gift
  • The priesthood of all believers: All Christians are priests
  • The primacy of the Bible: The Bible is the ultimate authority on religious truth

Episcopal Washington Cathedral Washington DC

The Episcopal Church describes itself as "Protestant, yet catholic" and asserts apostolic succession, tracing its bishops back to the apostles via holy orders.

Baptist Church

Baptists generally subscribe to the doctrines of sola fide, sola scriptura, and soul competency. They also believe that people are born again when they believe in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection.

Methodist Church

Most Methodists teach that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for all of humanity and that salvation is achievable for all. This is the Arminian doctrine, as opposed to the Calvinist position that God has pre-ordained the salvation of a select group of people.

Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral

The key doctrine, or material principle, of Lutheranism is the doctrine of justification. Lutherans believe that humans are saved from their sins by God's grace alone (Sola Gratia), through faith alone (Sola Fide), on the basis of Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura).

Pentecostal Church

Christian movement that emphasizes a personal experience of God through baptism with the Holy Spirit. It is a charismatic movement that led to the creation of many Protestant churches in the United States in the 20th century.

Roskilde Adventist Church

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church’s understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture.

Traditional Evangelical Preacher

Evangelicals are a worldwide interdenominational movement within Protestant Christianity that emphasizes evangelism and the importance of being born again. The word "evangelical" comes from the Greek word evangelion, which means "good news"

Tribulation Survival Guide by Justin Lucas

Download and Share with Others

This document provides an overview of end times events according to a particular interpretation of biblical prophecy. It discusses the rapture of the church and what may happen afterwards, including the rise of the Antichrist and the beginning of the 7-year tribulation period. During the first 3.5 years, the Antichrist will gain power and major wars, famines, and economic collapse will occur, as described by the opening of the first four seals in Revelation. The document encourages readers to accept Jesus as their savior in order to be included in the rapture and escape the coming judgment.
